Jacob's Well Natural Area Tour |
April 30, 10:00am - 11:30am |
Jacob's Well Natural Area, 221 Woodacre Drive, Wimberley, TX |
|
Jacob’s Well is actually an artesian spring that flows out of the longest underwater cave in Texas. The tour starts as a discovery trek through the fragile and highly diverse hill country terrain. As we walk to the spring, we have stories to tell about the floods along the creek, scuba divers and what they know about the cave, and how the grasses were so tall in the past, that deer had to stand up to be seen. Jacob’s Well is a stunning part of our natural heritage, and special to people and wildlife throughout recorded history. The spring has stopped flowing for the first time in recorded history in 2000 and 2008, mostly due to over-pumping. Come learn more about water conservation and aquifer protection, and enjoy the beauty of this ancient spring. |
